Trying Out Looping Hair Ties Toddler Activity

I was scouting around on Instagram for young toddler/older baby activities when I found this gem, Looping Hair Ties by Play At Home Mummy. Read her post for how to set up this activity!

Verdict?

This is easily one of the simplest toddler activities I've set up! It helps that Gwen and I have a ton of hair accessories that we don't use, so they can all be purposed for this activity. Phew that I found this activity to utilise them, I was on the verge of donating them already!

During this looping hair ties activity, Gwen enjoyed removing the hair ties one at a time, then a couple at one go, over and over again. She was much smoother and coordinated in looping them out than in, which made sense because the hair tie had to be stretched a little to be looped back onto the holder, and that was challenging for little ones.

So the only downside was that I had to be close by to repeat the activity.

But that's totally outweighed by how much she's benefiting from this activity! I like that she does this activity with total focus and concentration, and it helps improve her fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. When she stretches the hair ties she's flexing the muscles in her little hands. So much win for a simple activity!

Gwen liked this activity so much that I decided I'm putting it on her play shelf permanently. The only person who's not that happy with this arrangement is the husband. He laments that his kitchen towel roll needs a home. Well I guess I just have to do more scouting, this time for a replacement paper towel holder 😂
