The hike to the foot of the waterfalls is 15 mins, or so says the sign. It’s considered an “easy” hike for most but I was seriously panting and my calves were burning as I trudged up (it was pretty steep). Thankfully Gwen didnt fuss with my husband babywearing her on the hike; I don’t think I could make it up carrying her!

The view of the waterfalls was a sweet reward for the physical exertion. At the foot, it looked as though the waterfall stretched up to the sky! There’s a sign that says it’s hazardous and unlawful to climb up the rock pile to reach the waterfall, but you’ll see majority of the people doing that anyway. I don’t recommend that with a baby/toddler, the path is super steep, strewn with rocks and branches and not well-defined; a fall might cause serious injury.

The foot of the waterfall was pretty enough for photos and it was relaxing to listen to the running stream, leaves rustling and birds chirping. Gwen and I spent a good twenty minutes dropping rocks into the water to hear the splash and watch the ripples form 💦 On hindsight I should have put Gwen in waterproof boots. She kept trying to waddle into the water!

It’s summer now so the temperature is in the 20s and it’s shaded and windy which makes for a nice time in the woods, but there are quite a number of flies buzzing around so I would recommend bringing a bug repellant for spending a longer time in the woods. I was bouncing Gwen to nap after the hike near the start of the trail, and became a convenient, easy meal for a few mozzies, so trust me on that.

Verdict?

It's tiring to babywear a little one up the trail, but doable because of the relatively short length of the trail.

If I’m ever in the area again, I think I would love to return, perhaps for a picnic! There are picnic tables at the foot of the trail and I believe it’s a popular picnic spot for many families.
